Following Tungstone Battery Ltd's decision to close its Market Harborough manufacturing site, Yuasa Battery Europe Ltd has stepped in to ensure that some of the most respected brands in the industry are not lost. Yuasa has acquired Tungstone, Oldham and Crompton battery products and will continue to manufacture and market them under the established brand names and through a substantial number of the same personnel.
"It was important for motor factors not to lose these important and instantly recognisable brands," said Marcus Heather, managing director of Yuasa Battery Europe Ltd. "Yuasa has the ability to put manufacturing and marketing resources behind these brands to ensure they maintain their loyal following. Customers will notice little change as we will bring existing Tungstone technical sales and marketing personnel to Swindon to join our existing sales and marketing facility - so customer contacts should remain the same. "
Service levels will be maintained and with Malcom Howes in control of all UK sales, Yuasa will be handling all aspects of the business by the end of the year. In what is expected to be a seamless transition, the only change customers will notice is the name at the top of their invoices changing to Yuasa.
Marcus Heather adds: "This is an exciting opportunity for our automotive customers who will now be able to offer recognisable quality brands, backed up by the credibility and resources of one of the world's leading battery manufacturers. We expect customers to see a rise in service levels and marketing support, as well as an improved product offering." -ends-
