£2.5 MILLION BIRTHDAY BONUS
AA Car Data Check saves consumers millions in five years

Five years after it was created, AA Car Data Check has saved thousands of consumers from wasting their hard earned cash on a problem vehicle. The estimated financial saving on stolen cars alone is some £2.5million*.

The service has also saved more than 15,000 motorists from buying a used car that has proved to be an insurance write-off, and steered a further 43,000 people away from buying a car saddled with outstanding finance.

The total sum saved for motorists by AA Car Data Check in the last five years runs to many millions - the average price paid for a used car in the UK is £4,014* - and is in stark contrast to its cost of around £35 which equates to about the same cost as one tank of fuel.

Helen Goodsall from AA Car Data Check says: "In five years, AA Car Data Check has grown quickly to become the leading consumer service in its field, and we're delighted to have saved so many people from wasting their money.

"However, it's a shocking fact that only 10 per cent of used cars sold privately are checked," she added. "That leaves the door wide open to criminals. If every used car buyer were to check before they bought, we could significantly reduce car crime."

Available online or via a dedicated freephone number, the AA's Car Data Check service identifies a wide range of potential problems, including whether the car has been reported stolen, has outstanding finance, has been written-off by an insurance company etc.
