FIRST NEW RANGE ROVER GOES TO MUSEUM

Solihull, West Midlands 11 February, 2002 - The first of the new Range Rovers and the last second-generation Range Rover produced by Land Rover, left the Lode Lane plant for their new home at the Heritage Motor Centre, Gaydon, Warwickshire.

Accompanied by a host of other privately owned Range Rovers on Saturday the cavalcade made its way to the Heritage Motor Centre, where the keys to these symbolic vehicles were presented to Julie Tew, Managing Director of the Heritage Motor Centre.

Julie Tew commented: "We are honoured to be accepting these hugely significant vehicles from Land Rover. The new Range Rovers will now take pride of place within our collection of more than 200 vehicles. We wish Land Rover every success with its new generation Range Rover."

Originally launched in 1994, more than 167,000 of the second generation Range Rover have been manufactured at Solihull. Its award-winning successor, the new Range Rover, goes on sale in the UK on 15 March.
